Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today criticised the recent rally organised by Congress at Sevagram for alleged corruption.
"It is unfortunate that the rally in Sevagram, which is known for Mahatma Gandhi, was shrouded with corruption,"Modi said at a function here today.
He was referring to a controversy which arose when news channels aired a footage showing MPCC chief Manikrao Thakre discussing with former minister Satish Chaturvedi about fund collection from Congress Ministers, including Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, for the rally.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi was the chief guest of the rally.
Modi was in town to release senior BJP leader Jayvantiben Mehta's autobiography book'Ek Aviram Yatra.
BJP national president Nitin Gadkari, who was also present in the function, congratulated Modi for steering the party to victory in the recently held municipal corporation polls in Gujarat.
"CBI and Governors are alliance partners of the UPA government. Despite misuse of CBI by the government, Modi got success in the local body polls and I congratulate him for that,"Gadkari said.
Jayvantiben, whose autobiography has been translated into Gujarati and Marathi, said that it would inspire women willing to enter public life.
