The savage manner in which Team Anna activist and Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan was beaten in his own chamber speaks deeply of the factious times we live in. The social activist was assaulted in front of the television cameras— for saying something that his attackers disapproved of. There is nothing new about it as the past is flooded with incidents, where impatient groups have targeted writers, groups, artists, journalists, scholars, and activists whose work was not liked. These dogmatic groups have no problem breaking the law with self-proclaimed license.
Lately Mr. Bhushan has been in the public eye for going in full swing against high-level corruption, both in his capacity as a lawyer and as part of Anna Hazare’s spectacularly-mounted and hugely echoing Jan Lokpal Bill campaign. As a petitioner for more details....
