Extending support to locals agitating against Koodankulam Nuclear Power project, about 100 anti-nuclear activists will embark on a yatra from Madurai to the site Thursday.
The activists, under the aegis of Chennai Solidarity Group for Koodankulam Struggle would start their journey from Madurai on November 10 and stop at towns and villages en route to Koodankulam to explain"the terrible environmental and health effects of nuclear energy."

Congress has lost faith in Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta: Digvijay

Against the backdrop of a court giving 'clean chit'  to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the 'dumper'  scam following a Lokayukta report, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh today said his party had lost faith in the state Lokayukta, P P Naolekar.

PM to meet Gilani in Maldives tomorrow

Mamata threatens to quit UPA over petrol price hike

Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress, the biggest partner of the Congress in the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA), on Friday threatened to pull out of the central coalition over the hike in fuel prices once again, a decision which the angry West Bengal chief minister called unilateral.

CBI summons Jagan for questioning in alleged mining scam

CBI has called Y S


Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, for questioning on November 4 in connection with alleged multi-crore iron ore mining scam.
The agency is probing alleged nexus between Jagan and Janardhana Reddy whose company Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) has been accused of violating mining norms in the Ananthpuram disctrict of Andhra Pradesh, CBI sources said.

Nitish for Right to Recall

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumartoday said he was, in principle, in favour of the Right to recall elected representative of the people, but said a debate was needed on the issue.
"Being a follower of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, I am, in principle, in favour of Right to Recall,"Kumar told reporters here while exchanging greeting with people on the occasion of Chhath puja.
"But it will be better to have a debate over the demand for Right to recall or Right to reject,"he said.

Gadkari offers slew of incentives to sugarcane growers

BJP President Nitin Gadkari, who is heading the Purti sugar factories group in and around Vidarbha, today offered a slew of incentives for sugarcane growers in the region.

Karnataka land scam: Yeddyurappa's bail plea hearing today

The Karnataka High Court will today resume hearing on the bail plea of state’s former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, who is under arrest for his alleged involvement in corruption cases.

Team Anna to appear again before Par panel on Lokpal

Against the backdrop of Anna Hazare threatening to resume his fast on the last day of Parliament's Winter Session if a strong Jan Lokpal Bill is not passed by then, Team Anna would once again appear before a Parliamentary panel scrutinising the measure this week.

Rahul arrives unannounced in Varanasi

Injured Koda to remain in hospital for some more days: doctors

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, who suffered injuries after being beaten up inside a high-security jail, will remain in hospital for a few more days.
"His right hand is under plaster and doctors have kept him under observation,"the director of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Tulsi Mahto, said here today.
He would remain in hospital till doctors allow him to be discharged, he said.
While Koda alleged that he had been beaten up by prison guards at the Birsa Central Jail yesterday, the district administration and prison officials said Koda for more details....
